A Late Jurassic diplodocid of the Morrison Formation of western North America. Barosaurus is comparatively rare within the Morrison ecosystem, but is notable for having an extraordinarily long neck. It otherwise resembled its close (and more common) relative Diplodocus.

Some neck bones in Utah have been placed in both Supersaurus and Barosaurus. If they do belong to Barosaurus, they suggest a titanic specimen that grew to an almost-unbelievable 45 meters (150 feet) in length, and would have challenged even Argentinosaurus at ~60 tonnes.
