A small, lightly built early ornithischian dinosaur from the Early Jurassic of southern Africa (Lesotho and South Africa). Lesothosaurus was a bipedal plant-eater and is an important reference for the ancestral ornithischian body plan. For decades Lesothosaurus was known from many fragmentary and often sub-adult remains. The specimen restored here, SAM-PK-K1105, is the most complete, and was originally described as a different genus (Stormbergia), but was later recognized as an adult Lesothosaurus.
