A basal centrosaurine (the short-frilled horned dinosaurs) from the Late Cretaceous of Alberta, Canada. While advanced centrosaurines often have reduced brow horns and enlarged nose horns, species like Albertaceratops show that early members had horn configurations more reminiscent of Triceratops and its brethren. The shorter, more ornamental bony shield of the skull is more typical of centrosaurines.
