Ankylosaurus is probably the most recognizable name among the ankylosaurs, yet it’s known from poorer fossil material than many less famous relatives. What has been found suggests it’s among the largest known ankylosaurids at 6.5 meters (~20 feet) long. Living during the latest Cretaceous in western North America, it tried to thwart predators by being covered in bony plates, and wielding a bony club at the end of its tail.
