Edmontosaurus was a large hadrosaurid of the latest Cretaceous of western North America, reaching about 12 meters (39 feet) long. Although it lacked a bony crest, it may have had a soft-tissue crest on top of its head, similar to that found in Edmontosaurus regalis. With several “mummified” specimens covered in skin impressions, Edmontosaurus annectens is scientifically among the best-known dinosaurs, with some specimens even preserving the keratinous beak tissue.
