Eoraptor was one of the earliest known dinosaurs, living during the Late Triassic of Argentina. Originally thought to be an early theropod, further study and the discovery of close relatives show it’s actually a basal sauropodomorph. Despite the titanic sizes of later sauropods like Argentinosaurus and Supersaurus, the group had humble beginnings among these 1.3 meter (4 foot) bipedal omnivores that weighed about as much as a small dog.
