Suchomimus was a large spinosaurid from the Early Cretaceous of Niger, reaching around 11 m / 36 feet in length. Suchomimus had a long, narrow crocodile-like snout lined with conical teeth and a low ridge along its back, adaptations suited to catching fish. It was a close relative of Baryonyx, to the point that some workers have suggested they are the same species (the Baryonyx type specimen is at a more juvenile growth stage, complicating the process of testing whether they are the same species). For now they are treated as different animals.
