Sinovenator is a small troodontid from the Early Cretaceous Yixian Formation of Liaoning, China. About a meter (3 feet) long, Sinovenator is one of the most basal known troodontids and helped link this lineage of slender, large-brained theropods to dromaeosaurs, and cement that group’s ties to avialans. Like other troodontids Sinovenator would have been feathered, including wings and tail fans, despite clearly being a non-flying theropod.
