Jinfengopteryx was a small troodontid theropod from the Early Cretaceous of China. The type specimen, CAGS-IG-04-0801, is beautifully complete, preserving nearly the entire skeleton, as well as impressions of body, wing and tail feathers. Like the Late Jurassic troodontid Hesperornithoides, the small wings of Jinfengopteryx were not capable of flight, but it serves to help map out the who, when and how often of flight evolution among winged theropods.
