Melanorosaurus was a good-sized (8 m / 25 foot long), quadrupedal sauropodomorph from the Late Triassic of South Africa. Originally more material was placed into Melanorosaurus until high resolution stratigraphy showed many of the referred specimens were from the Early Jurassic. This style of short-limbed quadrupedalism seems to be typical of the shift from bipedal herbivores towards the more classic body plan of true sauropods.
