One of the earliest armored dinosaurs, Scelidosaurus lived during the Early Jurassic of England, about 190 million years ago. Scelidosaurus was a quadrupedal thyreophoran whose body was studded with rows of bony scutes, representing an early stage in the lineage leading to stegosaurs and ankylosaurs. It is known from remarkably complete specimens, including skin impressions and in one case a nearly perfectly preserved set of armor on an articulated skeleton. That specimen, BRSMG LEGL 0004, is the one restored here.
