Lambeosaurus is the classic lambeosaurine hadrosaurid, living in the Late Cretaceous of Alberta, Canada. Lambeosaurus can be distinguished by a hatchet-shaped hollow crest projecting above the skull. The crest only grew to its final size and shape as they reached adulthood, suggesting they played a role in display and/or making unique calls (the nasal passages pass through the crest, likely amplifying sound in a manner unique from differently-shaped crests in other lambeosaurs).
