A crocodylian from the Late Cretaceous of North America, long thought to be an early alligatoroid. Exactly where Leidyosuchus falls is now uncertain, as the same recent work that unsettled the phylogenetic position of Deinosuchus also pulled Leidyosuchus out of Alligatoroidea toward the crocodylian stem.
