Mirarce was an enantiornithine theropod from the Late Cretaceous of Utah. Enantiornithines, the so-called “backwards birds” were normally toothed, and were the dominant group of flying dinosaurs in the Mesozoic. Unusually large for an enantiornithine, Mirarce may have been engaged in raptorial hunting, and it showed advanced flight adaptations that rivaled the direct ancestors of modern birds.
